My New Year

Each new year I make goals for the year but usually wait a few weeks to really start working on them. It gives me time to make sure that's what I want to work on and it doesn't feel like I've failed if I'm not successful right away. Last year my only goal was to floss my teeth every single day. I have always been a good flosser but after having the girls it seemed like it was getting to be more and more of a chore. I had also just had Makayla and didn't want anything  too daunting. I'm happy to say that I stuck with it and had great dental check ups this year!
This year I knew that I wanted to be more intentional with teaching the girls about the Bible and praying. I was talking with a friend and she mentioned God's Little Explorers from the blog http://motherhoodonadime.com and I thought it was perfect for Bella and Hannah. It took me a little while to gather the material but we started it today since Bella was out of school. We started with a Scavenger hunt this morning. I gave them each a "treasure chest" to keep their supplies in.

And they are off!
I tried to keep the clues simple but enough of a challenge for Bella to enjoy it. Some of the places I hid their supplies were the high chair where I put their Bibles.

And scissors in the freezer were just a few of the things the girls searched for and found on their hunt.

We then had to take a break and I went to the Y and worked out and got Makayla to sleep when we got home. Then we were ready to get started. One of the great things about God's Little Explorers is that it covers the Bible, letters, numbers, self care, etc. We first discussed the letter we were going to be working on: X. Bella has already went over this letter in school.

We then worked on our ABC notebook and made Xs with Play Doh.

The girls played together so well today, it was a nice break from the almost constant fighting lately. The day also flew by with all of the activities we did. I think my favorite part of today was reading Bible stories while the girls played with the Play Doh. They were really listening and asked lots of questions and had lots of comments!

Showing off their puzzle. Bella's face here is killing me! Ha!
Baby sister also stayed plenty busy today.

I'm excited to watch my babies learn and grow this year!
