I finally finished this book after reading it off and on since the summer. I got it for a dollar at the Library's book sale and thought it looked interesting. I really had no idea that it would be so intense and hard to get through. Both her personal life and work with PSI was very heart-wrenching to read about. There were certain chapters that I couldn't get out of my head for days. I certainly don't have all the same beliefs as Ashley Judd, but I feel like you can't read this, and not come away with the feeling that you need to do something..ANYTHING ...to help people in need. She is very passionate and it comes across in this book. As a Christian it really convicts me about my lack of action in the area of helping those in need. I know that there is SO much more that I could do, but there are so many excuses I use. It's hard to give up a luxury (because of my selfish nature) to help someone in need, but that's Exactly what I am called to do! The Bible talks about this subject many times. I would be glad to lend anyone this book if they are interested in reading it. And if you are looking for an organization that does help the needy by putting roofs on their houses, while sharing God's word, you can check out their website at www.housetops4haiti.com.
