With the election last night, it brought up so many memories of four years ago.  I was a new mommy to a two month old baby, still trying to figure out breastfeeding, up most of the night, working full time in the O.R. in Livingston which included being on-call half of the month, we had just purchased a house, and to be quite honest it was a very difficult time between Pierre and me. I was trying hard to figure out how to make it all work.  On election night, however, I was so happy and proud of our country. I cried when it came across the screen that Barack Obama was our new President. My two month old, sweet, precious, biracial,  lovable baby girl, who was my whole world, now had someone like herself to look up to. I cried for all the people who had been told that they weren't "good enough" because of the color of their skin, who had been discriminated against, beaten, put into jail and the list of injustices could go on and on. I was excited for a change in government.
Fast forward four years and now I am a stay at home mom to three beautiful little girls. I've learned a lot, I've made mistakes just like the President, but I still support him. I'm glad President Obama was re-elected. I'm going to pray for him and the United States and ultimately know that there is someone who is in control no matter who the President is.
